My name is Jan Willem de Graaf.
As a child I liked to draw.
My education was in electrical engineering and electronics.
I have been active in automation for most of my working life.
At the end of the 1980s I took courses at the Volksuniversiteit Haarlem in the field of drawing and painting for several years(including from Ruud Cornelisse, Ger Daniëls and Helmut van Galen).
I then became a member of the association "Studio A-rtistiek" where,
under the leadership of Sjak Janssen, I have been creative for about 15 years.
Due to moving house and being too busy with work, I stopped for some time with painting and drawing.
In the period from 2020-2025 I participated in the course Realistic Drawing & Painting at "Parkvilla" in Alphen aan den Rijn.
In the first year under the leadership of Ton van Steenbergen, then under the leadership of Hanneke Naterop.
In the period 2023-2025, I also followed the Portrait and Model course at Parkvilla under the guidance of Angenelle Thijssen.
